Did you notice the question mark there? Yea, I’m still trying to figure it out too. But there are a few things I’ve found that have helped. I'm listing the original prices, but I tend to put these things in my shopping cart and wait for sales, and then I piece it all together bit by bit.
1) A jumper. I have a tall baby, so she’s already at the highest setting and quickly growing out of it. When she does, I’m going to be heartbroken. Letting her bounce in her jumper with Miss Rachel on the TV has been the best way for mommy and daddy to get anything done.

2) I’ve said it before, and I’ll scream it from the hilltops: Miss Rachel. Kaelin is obsessed with the Christmas episode. Dancing along with Miss Rachel’s songs can quickly take my little one from fussing to smiling while I’m on the phone with a customer.
3) A baby play pen. I got this one from Amazon and I’m probably about to get another one so I can give her more space to safely move around. Right now I sit at the opening and act as her jungle gym.

4) This playmat is easy to clean and soft enough that if she falls over, it doesn’t hurt since there’s carpet underneath. If you have hardwood floors, you might want something thicker. I bought another recently to give her more room to crawl around on.
Target $31.99 |
5) We just bought this walker since she loves standing. Right now, she’s just playing with the front, but it won’t be long until she’s zooming around the mats on it. I also got her the Violet toy, which she sometimes enjoys. She might grow into it.

6) Toys. This one is a given, I’m sure. I read that you shouldn’t have more than a few toys in their play area at a time and laughed out loud. Kaelin gets tired of her toys easily. Rattles are a big hit with my little one. I bought this variety pack and a ring stacker recently, and both have been big hits.

7) A feeding chair. This one I purchased from Target when she first started purées, but we barely used it then. Now that she’s moved onto finger foods like puffs and crunchies, we use it more.
Target $54.99 |
Which brings me to:
8) Baby snacks. Obviously, only feed your baby under supervision and in a safe way. One thing that has helped me is sitting her in her chair with some yogurt melts, crunchies, or puffs and sitting next to her on the floor while she noms and I make some calls.
9) A pack and play. I’m still trying to get her to start napping in hers. I haven’t given up hope that my little contact sleeper will give mommy’s back a break. She’s not a big fan of playing in it, though. The one pictured is the one we have, but it's no longer for sale anywhere that I can find. (No recalls either)
10) Her stroller. She’s quickly growing out of her current car seat and stroller combo, but man has this thing helped me when I need to take her to the bathroom with me or do the dishes. Sometimes when I’m working, I’ll sit her next me with her bottle and she’ll take a quick snooze in it. It's like her own little recliner where I can buckle her in and she can chill for a bit.

And finally: Me. I’ve learned I have to be adaptable. That means letting her sleep on my lap for nap or sitting next to her play area so she can climb on me or just be near me (she’s more aware of distance now). I don’t get to work at my desk unless my husband is off work during the week. It’s hard, but I adapt to make it work.
