TV Review: The Witcher (Season 3 Part 1)

I'm having a really hard time getting through this season. And not just because the kids keep interrupting us every time my husband and I turn on the show after they go to bed. It's not because of the story either. Each episode has been great, just like the seasons before. I could use some more Jaskier in my life, but then again, who couldn't?

No, I'm struggling because I know the end is nigh. At least, it is for Henry Cavill as Geralt. Funny anecdote on that topic: My husband didn't realize Liam Hemsworth hadn't already stepped into the role and was very impressed by how much the new guy looked like Cavill.

Bless.

I'm going to have to rewatch the last episode since we were interrupted so much, but I've really enjoyed the story in part 1 so far. It's really good to see the growth characters experience carry over into another season. Yennifer has done a lot of soul searching and found peace in mothering Ciri. And instead of seeing Ciri automatically become some OP badass, we see her struggle with magic and with her role.

Despite having to say goodbye to the Geralt we know, I'm looking forward to the next part of the season. I'm seriously going to have to play this game once I get the time (ha ha). But until then, I'm going to look forward to another few episodes of badasses, monsters, magic, mayhem, and hopefully another solid Jaskier bop since that's well overdue.
